Edison State College Hosts GreenFest Expo
L
earn all about being environmentally friendly during the fifth annual Green- Fest Expo, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., March 23, at the Edison State College Collier campus,
in Naples. During the free event, businesses and organiza- tions will showcase innovative products and services that are healthy, resource-conserving and good for the planet. Exhibits include alternative transportation, alternative en-
ergy sources, efficient insulation, nontoxic household products, fresh and natural foods, vegetarian food samples and yard and garden techniques. The Expo will also feature artists, live music, children’s activities, natural products and refreshments. “There are so many little things we can do that make a
positive impact when it comes to conserving our natural re- sources,” says Dr. Robert R. Jones, Collier campus president. Celebrating 50 years of excellence, Edison State College is Southwest Florida’s largest, most accessible and affordable institution of higher education. Proud to be tobacco-free, it serves more than 24,000 students across five counties and through Edison Online. The Collier campus includes two LEED-certified green buildings and will soon have four. Its Sustainability Committee drives campus recycling of water, pa- per, containers, ink cartridges and fluorescent light bulbs, and the Environmental Studies Club maintains an organic garden and sponsors field trips to local wildlife sites. The college also integrates “green” into its curriculum for incoming freshmen.
