Door prizes and raffles will raise funds for the Naples- based Freedom Waters Foundation, and attendees can bring canned goods that will be donated to St. Matthews House, also in Naples.

New Edible Landscaping Company in Estero

lorida Edible Landscaping, a new sustainable business based in Estero, is providing advice in designing and creating edible landscapes through organic techniques and education. Partners Taylor Walker and Erica Klopf are Flor- ida Gulf Coast University graduates, and Klopf was instru- mental in planning and designing the FGCU Food Forest, a half-acre, student-run, sustainable orchard and garden. “Our designs focus on a synergistic approach, often described as permaculture or ecological agriculture,” says Walker. “In a sense, we are creating small-scale, edible ecosystems. A major part of what we do is educating clients and the community at large on the importance of local, sustainable food production and how this can easily be accomplished.” They operate a half-acre farm and garden as a trial, research and demonstration area, and are currently growing more than 150 varieties of fruit, plus 150 varieties of perennial and seasonal vegetables, medicinal and native plants, herbs and spices.

Learn Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in Bonita

tress reduction educator Madeline Ebelini, MATP, the founder of Integrative Mindfulness, in Bonita Springs, will give free introductory talks on mindfulness- based stress reduction (MBSR) at 1 p.m., March 1, and 5:30 p.m., March 4. The events will discuss the essence of the eight-week, evidence-based course in mind- fulness meditation, gentle yoga and scientific research that will begin morning and evening classes on March 14. Pioneered by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical


School Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Healthcare and Society, MBSR can improve listening, mood, relationships, sleep and handling stress, among other health benefits. Ebelini completed professional MBSR training at the center with senior faculty, including Kabat-Zinn. Ebelini also holds a master’s degree in transpersonal psychology from Naropa


University, in Boulder, Colorado, where she received comprehensive training in meditation, and she is a registered yoga teacher.
