KITCHEN AND BATH REMODELING TRENDS in the upcoming year will reflect the changes homeowners are making in other aspects of their lives. From color choices to product selections, consumers are embracing the less-is-more, back-to-basics lifestyle. This transition is complemented by the modern move toward more environmentally conscious design. Here are five trends that designers are going to see a lot more of from Washingtonians in 2013 and beyond.
1 THE NEW NEUTRAL GREEN IS »
The ever-evolving environmentally- friendly movement has consum- ers demanding, not only energy- efficient homes built with products made from renewable resources, but also earthy themes in their kitchens and baths. The use of natu- ral colors and elements integrates the outdoors with the client’s home interiors. Homeowners are select- ing more unique woods, engineered counters,
ceramic or porcelain
tiles to replicate wood and stones, and glass backsplashes or shower walls. They are also moving beyond a neutral palette of tans and whites to one that includes various shades of green. Green, as the new neutral, is becoming increasingly popular because it looks natural and blends so well with other colors.
