ome people have destination weddings. I have a destination bathroom. Tanks to the NARI-member remodeler, Advanced Contracting, Inc. in Round Hill, VA, my


new hall bathroom is now a fun and cheery show- case. But what could possibly make a bathroom “fun”? Mirrors—the creative use of two floor-to- ceiling mirrors with dramatic built-ins that flank the corner pedestal sink. To be in my new powder room is to experience “trompe l’oeil,” that school of art which delights in fooling the eye. Te eye here is indeed fooled, and joyfully so.


Here’s how we did it. Because the room is ridicu- lously tiny (less than 5 feet by 6 feet) and win-


dowless, I needed a contractor who would work with me—really talk to me and with me—and who had creative ideas beyond those that I alone could envision. I only knew that I wanted a cor- ner sink and a pocket door this time around, but couldn’t imagine how they could be worked into such a tiny space.


Finding the Right Contractor A friend recommended Advanced to me back in March 2012 after the firm had remodeled her kitchen and an upstairs bathroom. I contacted the company, and founder Randy Iacone came over and surveyed the project. He immediately
