Volunteer with Girlguiding UK ✔

irlguiding UK is the UK’s largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women, with over half a million members and recognised volunteers. We run Rainbows

(5–7 years, 4–7 in Northern Ireland), Brownies (7–10 years), Guides (10–14 years) and Senior Section (14–25 years), enabling girls and young women to develop their potential whatever their ability or background. Girlguiding UK activities help young people to build skills that last a lifetime. One Leader, Robina, told us about her guiding journey: ‘I learned first aid at Brownies, knot-tying at Guides and leadership skills and teamwork as a Young Leader…all of which really help in my work as a brain surgeon!’ Girlguiding UK offers a variety of volunteer roles which help to build skills and experience in activities such as marketing, budgeting and managing events. Guiding is flexible, and volunteering can be arranged to fit around a busy lifestyle. Making a difference to girls’ lives and helping them achieve their potential is hugely rewarding. But there are lots of benefits for our volunteers too.

If you become a Leader or Assistant Leader, you will take Girlguiding UK’s Leadership Qualification, and will be offered lots of other training opportunities at a local and national level. Perhaps you’ve always wanted to become qualified in first aid or gain a catering qualification. Volunteering with guiding can provide the opportunity.

You’ll have lots of fun. The guiding programme is packed with activities and challenges, and you’ll have a chance to experience them along with the girls.
