Nominees

G&M Strathisla 1965

Nominated by Mark Angus ABV 43% REGION: Speyside “There is no better place to experience the age-old craft of whisky making than Northern Scotland’s oldest distillery, Strathisla. It presents a defi ned sherry nose with sweet toffee and dried fruit aromas. A delight for all the senses.”

Glengoyne 21yo Nominated by Mark Connelly ABV 43% REGION: Highland “I think the 21yo is the best from the standard Glengoyne range. The complexity is amazing at what I feel is the ideal age for this malt, with the sherry cask infl uence to the fore giving a sweet, smooth, fruity malt with a long, lightly spiced and satisfying fi nish.”

Glenfarclas 1971 family cask Nominated by Mike Lord ABV 51.6% REGION: Highland “A family owned distillery that really takes pride in the whisky it produces – and it always shows. This has one of the best noses of any whisky I have tried and the palate is outstanding too. A real conversation stopper.”

The Chosen Few (Ronnie Routledge) 1978

Automatic entry ABV 49.6% REGION: Highland “This whisky came second in the readers’ panel. It’s smooth and creamy with a real burst of fruitiness.”
