astoundingly big sherry cask whisky. The extra punch of alcohol is a real treat as well. My advice though is take two sips before you make a judgement. Lots of bodega notes, plums, bitter chocolate and a hugely long fi nish.”

Talisker Distillers Edition 2000 Nominated by Robin Russell ABV 45.8% REGION Skye “This Talisker has been transferred to an ex-Amoroso sherry cask. Hidden beneath a Spanish sheath of sherry, that distinctive peppery style is still here in abundance after you have enjoyed the brine, olives and mixed spices.”


Compass Box The Spice Tree Nominated by Mark Connelly ABV 46% REGION Blend “Using new French oak cask ends which have been heavily toasted, the whisky alchemist at Compass Box, John Glaser, takes his delicious Oak Cross whisky and cranks it up to 11.”
