The perfect blend Boutique spirits company, Wemyss
Malts, has announced the release of its fi rst premium blended Scotch whisky. The new 15 years old, Lord Elcho, is named after an 18th century ancestor of the found- er of Wemyss Malts, a loyal supporter of Bonnie Prince Charlie who led his lifeguards at the Battle of Culloden. The whisky is crafted from a care- fully chosen selection of the fi nest malt and grain whiskies (each aged at least 15 years), with an emphasis on malt whisky aged in sherry casks.

Save the last cask...
The last remaining bottles of one of the world’s oldest and most exclusive single malt Scotch whiskies went on sale at a ceremony at Vancouver airport, in Canada. Gordon & MacPhail released the fi nal 100 bottles of its Glenlivet 70 Years Old, offering one last chance for collectors and consumers to own a piece of Scotland’s liquid history. Cask 339 was fi lled at Glenlivet Distillery on 3 February 1940 and was bottled at cask strength. The bottles are priced at £22,000 each and went on general sale on 1 November.

Big in Japan Award-winning whisky producer,
Isle of Arran Distillers, has ap- pointed a new female ‘Ambas- sador of Arran’ to help drive sales in Japan. Ms Keiko Manni was awarded the title after making the trip with her colleague, Ms Sueko Yamada. Over the last fi ve years, both ladies have contribut- ed signifi cantly to driving forward sales of Arran Malt in Japan. Ms Manni is the Spirits Block Leader for prestigious department store, Isetan, whilst Ms Yamada is in charge of the spirits bar in the store.
