Old Pulteney 12yo Automatic entry ABV 40% REGION: Highland “Last year’s winner of this category, this is one whisky which is always in the drinks cabinet. It’s rich, honeyed and rounded with a defi nite salty tang of the sea about it. A classic dram which suits most palates and is so moreish. One for guests that you like.”

Benromach 10yo Nominated by Mark Angus ABV 43% REGION: Speyside “A complex and well- balanced malt. The fl avour combinations display delicious forest fruits, raspberries and brambles combined with sherry, malt creaminess and a light peat smoke in the background.”

Stronachie 12yo Nominated by Mark Connelly ABV 43% REGION: Speyside “Superb Benrinnes from a superb bottler. Still one of the great bargains out there. It’s like Scotland in a bottle with heather and a hint of peat. The 18yo is also magnifi cent and very reasonably priced.”

Bowmore 12yo Nominated by Darren Leitch ABV 40% REGION: Islay “ I entered this back in 2009 and it came out triumphant, so, with a new line-up on the judging panel it’s time to see if it can live up to its 2009 success.”
