of Whisky has unveiled a £180,000 redevelopment


of its warehouse at the Aberfeldy Distillery, Perthshire. The new facility complements the current heritage exhibi- tion and brings to life the skills at the heart of Dewar’s premium blends, with displays and an exclusive hosting area within the warehouse. Heated seating and warming blankets means that the experience can also be enjoyed all year round. Visitors can also fi ll their own bottle with exclusively aged Aberfeldy malt whiskies. Distiller of distinction


Morrison Bowmore Distillers – producers of Auchentoshan, Bowmore, Glen Garioch and Mc- Clellands’s single malts – scooped the coveted Whisky Distiller of the Year title at the 2013 Icons of Whisky Awards Scotland. The awards, run by Whisky Magazine, celebrate the people and places behind the greatest whiskies in the world. Two long-serving Mor- rison Bowmore staff members also won awards: Iain McCallum – who won Brand Ambassador of the Year, and Eddie MacAffer – who won Distillery Manager of the Year. www.morrisonbowmore. co.uk, www.suntory.com

World Whisky Day An international day to celebrate whisky is set to


become an annual event. The brain child of Blair Bowman (pictured), who was also part of our recent Whisky Challenge readers’ panel, World Whisky Day saw around 20,000 people take part in more than 180 events around the world. The event has attracted support from the Scottish Government, VisitScotland, Scotland Food and Drink and the Scotch Whisky Experience. World Whisky Day 2013 will take place on 18 May.
