Sad death of war veteran
A 92-YEAR-OLD Nor- mandy veteran from Redruth has died in hospital following an accident on his motor- cycle in the town on September 11.
Frederick ‘Fred’
Pengilly was a mem- ber of the Parachute Regiment during World War Two. He parachuted into Nor- mandy on D-Day and Op Varsity.
The accident which led to his death oc- curred on the A3047 outside Redruth School.
Control
A police spokesman said Mr Pengilly was riding his small Aprilia motorcycle, when he appeared to have lost control, leav- ing the road and mounting the grass verge where he col- lided with a sign post. At the scene he spoke to witnesses and police officers before being taken to Treliske hospital where he died from his injuries a few days later.

theft from caravan Hundreds of pounds of equipment stolen
POLICE are appealing for in- formation following a bur- glary from a caravan which took place in the Lighthouse Hill area of Portreath over the past few weeks.
The caravan door was dam- aged to gain entry and sev- eral items were stolen includ-
ing tools and fishing tackle worth hundreds of pounds. A vehicle would have been needed to carry the items away.
