The old mischievous glint in the eye is back and the laughs are coming thick and fast as Lenny Henry looks forward to a bright new future.

But the unassuming funnyman’s confident, upbeat outlook has taken quite a while to re- turn – after the toughest, most heart-rending two years of his life.

His 25-year marriage to Dawn French, believed to be one of the most solid in the business, ended in divorce. Then his family suffered three deaths in just 12 months.
