998 A LOUIS XV/XVI TRANSITIONAL BREAKFRONT COMMODE, circa 1750, with breche d’alep marble top with canted front corners above a frieze of panelled chain with flowerhead angles, with two drawers inlaid sans traverse with cube and trellis parquetry surrounding an oval ribbon-hung scene of Venus and Cupid with roundel and laurel leaf handles and on square cabriole legs below inlaid flutes and with foliate sabots, with conforming ends, the reverse inscribed in chalk E3195/EX CROWTHER, the top damaged and now mounted on a slate backing, 34”h x 45”w x 20 1/2” (86cms x 114cms x 52cms).
