• A practical engineering guide This 800-page edition which has been published in four languages is a practical master guide for engineering executives in interpreting the picture of tomorrow’s broadcasting. At the time of going towards to digital, an assessment of the options available is vital. Broadcasters will find the book as a valuable source in this regard.
Picture quality analysis of digital TV signals, methods of measuring video quality, signal processing in satellite transmission, DVB-S/S2 modulation and measuring, broadband cable transmission in DVB-C, DVB-T standards, transmissions and measurement, DVB-H, comparison of DAB and DVB, DVB-C2 parameters and definition of DTMB are some of the issues that Mr Fischer has addressed.
File-Based Production Systems
• ABU publishes a new monograph In the modern broadcasting environment, File-Based production systems are becoming a necessity worldwide. Considering the interest in this area, the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and the Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting and Information Institute (IPPTAR) have published this monograph on “File-Based Production Systems” for the benefit of broadcasters, particularly the developing broadcasters in the region.
The monograph provides a general introduction to TV station network development, general architecture, design, and typical blocks of TV station network, network systems, interconnections, network security and quality control. The last chapter examines and analyses SD and HD simulcast technologies and strategies.
The monograph has been developed by experts from Radio and TV of People’s Republic of China (RTPRC). (2012)
