2.2 Configuration of DVB-T2 SFN set up by AVG

Figure 2: Overall system configuration of DVB-T2 SFN set up by AVG

Figure 2 shows the overall system configuration of the DVB-T2 SFN broadcasting system applied to channels 57 (762Mhz), 58 (770Mhz), 59 (778Mhz). The system comprises:

Programme source: This includes television channels produced by AVG and other programme sources.

Headend: The Headend centre functions to compress programmes, using MPEG4 encoder devices, applying Control Access (CA) system and subscriber management, and programme channels multiplexers (MUX). Output Multiplexer (MUX) includes three transport streams (corresponding to the three frequency channels) into the T2 Gateway system.

T2 Gateway: This system consists of three main T2 Gateways receiving the third output stream TS MUX, performing the functions of encapsulating the framework (Baseband Frame), L1 signaling information, sync information,... on T2-MI packets. The output of T2 Gateway are T2 MI packets which are packaged and transmitted via the IP transmission network to the transmitter sites nation-wide, ensuring broadcasting synchronous signals in SFN.

Transmission network: Performs the distribution of output signals from Headend centre to the transmitter sites.

Transmitter sites: Transmitter sites are being implemented through the nation, with three frequencies. Each site consists of three DVB-T2 transmitters of average power less than 3kW.
