Technical Review | April-June 2012

(continued from page 23)

It may be possible to transform a project or a product into a remarkable success, which may have miserably failed in its original intended purpose. A product innovation shall not attempt to change the behaviour of people to suit the product but rather move towards enhancing their lives.

If a ratio R defined as R=X/Y where X is the numerator and Y is the denominator, the value of R can be increased either by increasing the X or reducing the Y. Most of the organizational efforts such as corporate planning, strategic planning, organization restructuring, business process re-engineering, etc. all focus on denominator management functions, which attempt to make the inputs efficient. Most modern companies who have made it a success in a short time applied the concept innovation known as numerator management, which is the key to success in the 21st century. A concept innovation immediately causes a paradigm shift in the industry that will compel the others to follow the new trend. This comes about with strategic thinking, what is most essential for the 21st century.

The core objective of this workshop was to create the mindset that decision making is the core of all managerial activities and to acquire the thinking process to make the best decision under conditions of uncertainty, ambiguity, paradox and chaos using modern tools and techniques to enhance the decision making capabilities of the participants to a higher level.

This participants were presented with topics such as; The Norms of 21st Century Management; Significance of Knowledge in Modern Management; Innovations & Paradigms; a conceptual overview of the DISC Ideology; Decision Making
