Galaxy Entertainment raises the stakes in Cotai as its plans to double the size of its resort
Nothing stays still in Macau, where following hot on the heels of Sands Cotai Central’s grand opening Galaxy Entertainment has confirmed it will invest a further US$2.6bn to double the size of its Galaxy Macau resort.
As phase two of the already spectacular project, Galaxy will bring the size of the resort to 1m sq. m. of space introducing two new luxury hotels including The Ritz- Carlton's first ever all-suite hotel and the world's largest JW Marriott. In total Galaxy Macau will boast 1,300 rooms across five luxury hotels. As well as increasing meeting, event and banquet space to a capacity of over 3,000 guests, Galaxy will be expanding its gaming capacity by up to 500 tables and over 1,000 slots.

Australia-Melbourne install sees DEQ progress in Australia Crown Casino in Melbourne has installed 20 G3, i3 edition progressives from DEQ Systems, marking the company’s entry into the Australian casino market. Earle Hall, President and CEO of DEQ, said: “DEQ is now Down Under. We are so proud of this installation and the tremendous partnership from the management of Crown. Thunderbird started operations in Binangonan, Rizal, followed by Poro Point to gain a foothold in the SE Asian market.
ARISTOCRAT LEISURE has moved quickly to appoint Atul Bali as successor to Nick Khin as President, Aristocrat Americas, effective 30 June 2012. Mr. Bali joins the Aristocrat team from
the XEN Group, where he has been CEO since 2010 and overseen the expansion of the group’s portfolio of social media, data technology, online gaming and ecommerce businesses. He has previously held leadership roles at Grupo Lottomatica, including President of the GTECH G2 division and Group SVP for Corporate Development and Strategy. A chartered accountant, Mr. Bali began his career with KPMG in the United Kingdom. He will move to Las Vegas in mid-June to facilitate a smooth leadership transition.
Mr. Khin joined Aristocrat in 2002, serving in a number of senior roles in Australia and Europe before being promoted to lead the Americas business in 2008. After a decade with Aristocrat, and having made important progress in the critical US market over the past three and a half years, Mr. Khin has decided to take a break with his family before pursuing new opportunities. Aristocrat Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Jamie Odell, said: “I'm delighted to be welcoming a proven leader of Atul's calibre to guide our Americas business through the second half of our turnaround program.
