Kleven Maritime to build subsea support and construction vessel for Rem Offshore Kleven Maritime has signed a contract with Rem Offshore for an advanced multifunction subsea support/construction vessel. The contract value is around NKr550 million (US$95.6 million). “Kleven Maritime and Rem have had a strong relationship for many years, and we are very pleased that they chose Kleven again,” said Ståle Rasmussen, CEO at Kleven Maritime. Kleven has so far delivered 12 vessels to Rem, and will also deliver an LNG-powered vessel to Rem in December this year.
LNG-fuelled Olympic Energy named March saw the naming ceremony for Olympic Shipping’s latest newbuild, Olympic Energy. The PSV 06 LNG design has 1,000m2 deck area, 94m LOA, 20m beam and total accommodation for 28 people. According to Seabrokers, Olympic Energy joined the North Sea spot market at the end of March.

Jumbo Shipping has confirmed that it has placed an order for a second K-class vessel, with an option on a third, to complement its existing fleet. After careful consideration and engineering
study, Jumbo has decided to upgrade the lifting capacity of the vessels from 1,300 tonnes to 1,500 tonnes, enabling tandem lifts of 3,000 tonnes. The K-class vessels are to be built at the Brodosplit shipyard in Split, Croatia. The design
Bibby Offshore has secured a three-year bareboat charter agreement with Solstad Offshore Asia Pacific Ltd for NOR Spring, a DP2 anchor-handling support vessel.
The deal has been struck by Bibby Offshore’s Singapore operation, Bibby Offshore Singapore Pte Ltd. NOR Spring represents a multi-million dollar investment by Bibby Offshore and becomes the fifth vessel in the fleet. NOR Spring is currently completing ROV support operations for an EPIC contractor in Papua New Guinea and was expected back in Singapore by the end of April. The vessel will then undergo planned maintenance before Bibby Offshore, with vessel manager Bibby Ship Management Ltd, takes delivery of the ship later in May. The 2008-built NOR Spring comes with a proven track record in the Middle East and Asia-

Teknikk. Among its features will be a powerful offshore crane able to lift 250 tonnes at 650m or 135 tonnes at 3,000m water depth. The delivery date is set for June 2013.
• Viking Supply Ships is to change the names of its vessels but without interfering with any ongoing charter contracts. The majority will therefore change their names during the second and third quarters of 2012. The vessels will be repainted during their next planned drydock, in the standard Viking Supply Ships colours: black and yellow. SBS Nimbus will become Frigg Viking; SBS Stratus becomes Idun Viking; SBS Tempest becomes Nanna Viking; SBS Torrent becomes Freja Viking; and SBS Typhoon becomes Sol Viking.

incorporates Finnish-Swedish ice class 1A (and is thus ideal for projects in Arctic regions) and each vessel will be prepared for DP2 installation which, when fitted, will provide a multi-faceted installation support capability in the offshore sector, enabling large and heavy structures to be loaded, transported and installed by a single vessel. The first vessel will be in active service in the autumn of 2013. The sister ship will follow some six months later.
Bibby Offshore secures new vessel on charter
Pacific. The vessel has 600m² of free deck space as well as an ROV mezzanine deck and multiple DP reference systems including fanbeam and taut-wire. The ship is equipped with a subsea 20 tonne at 15m active heave compensated knuckleboom crane suitable for man-riding and can be fitted with an existing 40 tonne safe working load A-frame, if required. NOR Spring also has accommodation for 60 personnel and a built-in hospital, making it suitable for ROV and diving operations which involve large project and client teams. For the first contract starting in May, Bibby Offshore will be mobilising NOR Spring in Singapore with a survey spread and two newly- purchased TMS inspection class Seaeye Lynx ROVs before transiting the vessel to Indonesia where it will be carrying out a platform and pipeline inspection campaign. • PT Wintermar, Indonesia, has secured contracts for 2 x 8,000 bhp AHTS vessels and a drilling support warehouse barge to support BP Berau Ltd in its drilling operations in Tangguh, Papua New Guinea. The two 8,000 bhp DP2 vessels, which will have 100 tonnes bollard pull, are rumoured to have been purchased from POSH, Singapore.
• The tugs Posh Hazel and Posh Harmony (both built 2009 – 4,400 bhp) have been sold to Malayan Towage, Philippines, for an undisclosed price. The vessels have been delivered and renamed Defiance and Intrepid.
• The tug Salvirile (built 2005 – 5,000 bhp) has been sold to CPC Consolidated Pipe Carriers, Singapore, and is reportedly now operating in Kenyan waters managed by Kenya Marine Contractors. The vessel has been renamed CPC Soave.
• The PSV Siem Danis (built 2006 – 3,600 dwt) VS 470Mk II has been sold to Vigeo Holdings, Nigeria, reportedly for about US$34 million. The vessel has been delivered and renamed Vigeo Adebola.
• The AHTS Northern Crusader (built 1992 – 15,612 bhp) has been sold to Femco, Russia. The vessel has already been renamed Veni and will move from the North Sea to Vietnam.
• Femco has also taken the AHTS Jaya Dauphin (built 2009 – 10,730 bhp) on a five-year bareboat charter with purchase option included. The vessel will be working in Vietnam.
