the A20 Seven Mile Lane junc- tion was to be considered by the Joint Transportation Board. Members were concerned that traffic flow would be impeded by traffic lights. £450 in member funding to re- place the stolen map from The Clearway display board. The council had been asked to consider a loan of £7,500 to £10,00 to the Village Hall Com- mittee for improvements. The clerk would assist the commit- tee in trying to find alternative sources of funding.

Aylesford Council Fallen tree

A RESIDENT of Rochester Road asked about the tree which had fallen across the bridleway be- tween Pratling Street and Forstal Road. The clerk said the en- trance to the bridleway was ac- tually further east, on the boundary with theWaitrose site, and was marked with a finger post and a low concrete plaque. Community warden David Leipnik, from Eccles, said the rear gates of properties in the old square had been tampered with – two men had been seen acting suspiciously. He and warden Adam McKin-

ley had been checking phone boxes after reports of money being stolen. There had been a number of

small fires in Bushey Woods over the Easter holidays. Unauthorised cold callers

had been reported to Kent po- lice as the area was in a con- trolled cold-calling zone. Fly-tipping on the LowerWar-

ren Road public right of way had been reported. Chairman Joyce Gadd re- ported a spate of fuel thefts in the Maidstone area. Warden Leipnik reported thefts of heat- ing oil and metal. Members said work on the crossing at the junction of Fost- ington Way and Tunbury Av- enue had been completed, but they were disappointed a re- peater light to increase visibility from traffic travelling south had not been installed. The clerk was asked to request this.

A site meeting was being arranged withKCCand would be attended by Cllr Guy Nevill and borough Cllr Matthew Balfour. Regarding litter, borough council workers had been seen in the village but there was still

litter along Snodland Road and Birling Road. The clerk would check with the borough exactly whatwork had been carried out. The parish would fund a shortfall of £576 in costs of the village party provided by the Birling Village Hall Charitable Trust. A request by Plaxtol Parish Council to use the Speedwatch equipment was agreed and the costs would be negotiated. Traffic lights were to be erected along Seven Mile Lane. A group doing community service, supervised by a proba- tion officer, was again undertak- ing mowing of the churchyard.
