Postal firm closure mystery Scouts learn
A POPULAR Kings Hill-based postal service has gone into liq- uidation. Doors closed at The Post and Packing Warehouse (UK) Ltd, in Liberty Square, Kings Hill, on May 4. Traverse Advisory LLP, of Tunbridge Wells, have been appointed liquidators. The first customers knew was
when a sign appeared on the door, advising that the office would not be open for business. Sam Anderson, who set up
the company in 2006, is be- lieved to be out of the country. However, David Thorniley, pf
Traverse Advisory, said her fa- ther, who is the sole director of the company – even though Ms Anderson describes herself as the managing director – called in his company on May 4. The company was assigned
the lease on May 8, and a new operator was due to be put in place to ensure all outstanding deliveries were dealt with. Mr Thorniley said: “We hope
any mail can be retrieved and redelivered and the new opera- tor will continue to operate the same service.” Sam Anderson built up the business, from initially packing and shipping parcels and pack- ages worldwide, to distributing mailshots and offering a PO Box service. It offered post and courier
services and proved popular with business customers, par- ticularly during postal disputes. She founded a new company
– Order Fulfilment Experts (OFEX) – in September last year, moving to larger premises in Bellingham Way, Aylesford, in November. In May 2011, she published
an e-book called “How to Make your E-commerce business work for you”. The book is for sale on the internet, with some free copies available from Order Fulfilment Experts, trading as Post and Packing Warehouse

Ltd, at the Kings Hill address. In the book promotion, Sam
says: “I’ve worked with e-com- merce businesses, enabling them to free up time and resources to focus on their sales and market- ing efforts, in order to grow and expand their operation.” On the OFEX website, Sam writes: “The e-commerce indus- try is one that is growing 20% year on year. My business is a young, ambitious fulfilment house; our customer base is a dynamic and eclectic mix of on- line entrepreneurs, who are am- bitious in their own rights.”

water safety LEYBOURNE Lakes was one of the sites that played host to more than 800 Scouts at Quest 6water sports event over the May Bank Holiday weekend. Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) gave demonstrations of water-related rescues at the lakes – one of the event’s main activity sites – during the two- day jamboree, where water safety was paramount. KFRS’s Head of Community Safety, Martin Adams, said: “Quest 6 was a fantastic oppor- tunity for us to reach a large number of young people and give them water safety advice. “Our message is stop and
think, and only swim where it is safe to do so. Stay out of lakes, rivers and streams – they may seem inviting on a sunny day but the water is often very cold, deep, has fast-moving cur- rents and hidden hazards.” The Scouts were warned
never to go into the water to at- tempt a rescue, but to call 999 and look for a rope or lifebelt. Firefighters from Larkfield
were also at the lakes with their inland water rescue boat. Martin said: “We were pleased to be involved with such a well attended and fun event and to be able to reach hundreds of young people with important safety messages.”
