From beacons to banqueting, it’s time to celebrate and here are just some of the highlights


Addington Picnics, champagne and candelabras will be the order of the day on Saturday, June 2, with a family event, arranged by the parish council, from 4pm to 11pm at the village hall. The QEII Fields in Trust plaque will be unveiled and the fun will include a magician and cricket match, followed by music, dancing and a hog roast late supper. Entrance by ticket only.


Jubilee weekend activities also include The Seekers Trust open day, tours of the Neolithic stones, exhibitions and the lighting of the official beacon. For details, contact the parish clerk on 01732 367981.


Birling Villagers will be creating a unique piece of art in All Saints’ Church over the Jubilee weekend. Led by Denise and Trevor Lingham, residents will fill in squares on a grid to produce a picture of the Queen. The community art project is funded by Birling Recreational Trust and will be recorded on DVD, a book and website.


Leybourne On Sunday, June 3, from 7pm to 11pm, dance the night away at a Diamond Jubilee evening of big band classics performed in the village hall by Big City Swing.

The Jubilee beacon will be lit at 10pm on Monday, June 4. Mereworth


A short ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 2, in the recreation ground to rename the area the Queen Elizabeth II playing field with a tree planting and the unveiling of a plaque. The annual village fete is on Saturday, June 16, with a Jubilee party in the evening. It is hoped to light a beacon on Monday evening, June 4.


Offham


A celebration lunch will be held on the village green on Sunday, June 3, for residents and their immediate families. The day includes entertainment, food and drink and a commemorative gift for all the children of the village.

AFTER reading an appeal in the last edition of Malling Mail, for local pictures of the 1952 celebrations, Mrs Christine Williams sent in this much-loved family photograph of herself with her mum Lily Killick and grandmother Violet Killick.


Trottiscliffe


A weekend packed with community events including a huge street party in Taylors Lane on Saturday, June 2, with a coronation fancy dress competition. On Sunday, there will be a family service in the church followed by patriotic refreshments, and on Monday, villagers will celebrate with a giant safari supper, followed by a party at the village hall. The grand finale will be the inaugural lighting of the specially commissioned Trottiscliffe Jubilee beacon at 10.45pm, accompanied by the release of lanterns into the night sky


Wateringbury Leybourne Parish Council


Presents in Celebration of the Jubilee Weekend an Evening of Big Band Classics performed live in the village hall by


BIG CITY SWING


Come and see the Queen's Diamond Jubilee carpet of flowers laid in the central aisle at the Church of St John the Baptist, Tonbridge Road, on Sunday, June 3, from 2pm - 5pm, and Monday and Tuesday, June 4 and 5 from 10.30am - 5pm.


There is also an exhibition of Wateringbury from 1952 and cream teas.


A fete will be held in the churchyard on Monday, June 4, from 2pm - 4pm, when the fun will include music, a children's banquet with cake decorating, crown making and an invitation to come dressed as a knight or princess.


On Tuesday afternoon, June 5, music will be provided by harpist Carys Hughes and a service of thanksgiving will be at 7.30pm.
