James Taylor, 22

Shrewsbury School, Shropshire England Cricketer

In 2009 James Taylor was voted Young

Player of the Year by the Natwest Professional Cricketers’ Association and won the Cricket Writers’ Club Young Cricketer of the Year. He scored 1,000 runs for the third consecutive season in 2011 and was a key member of Leicestershire Foxes’ FL Twenty20 winning side. A week before the England squad was named he had made two centuries in three games while captaining the England Lions; this gained him his first England ODI cap to face Ireland (2011). This was not the first national success that had come his way, as he had scored 200 runs in the U19 World Cup England team (2008). His story started in the Worchestershire 2nd

XI and Shropshire teams, leading to Leicestershire in 2007.

The statistics consistently match his glory, with James averaging 49.18 in First-class cricket, 50.03 in List A and 35.03 in Twenty20. Having led the England Lions in the summer of 2011-12 James remained captain for the tour of Bangladesh (2012) .

Anna Bullus, 27

Green Product Designer Bedales School, Hampshire

Anna Bullus was named the Homes & Gardens Eco Designer of the Year 2012. She is the innovative designer behind a unique product: The Gumdrop, the world’s first process that transforms old chewing gum into a plastic. The product tackles the global environmental issue of gum litter. Anna comments: “Everyone thought I was mad and bit disgusting”, when discussing the eight months she spent in the lab testing old gum! But this ingenuity paid off. Anna won the Hidden Art Polymers Award for overall performance (2009) and now designs products which challenge our everyday life. She gained a distinction in 3D design at Camberwell College of Art and graduated in Three Dimensional Design with first class honours in 2007.

Fred Macpherson, 24

City of London School, London Lead singer of Spector

Spector supported Florence and the Machine this Spring, performed on Later…with Jools Holland last Autumn and have a debut album set to hit the shops – and Fred Macpherson leads the show. The band are a blend of everything from The Strokes and Kaiser Chiefs to Pulp, not unsurprising as Fred was inspired by the Indie bands that he grew up with – The White Stripes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol. He formed Spector in 2010, writing most of the songs himself, and hired a band from scratch. They were soon performing in sessions for Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and gained a slot on the Introducing Stage at 2011’s Reading and Leeds Festival. Les Incompetents and Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man were Fred’s previous musical projects, both now fading into the distance with Spector’s jump to fame. Fred is sure to gain a piece of the fashion industry: with profiles already on Ray-Ban’s music website ray-ban-rooms. com and mrporter.com. Nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll Fred’s vision is ticking both style and music boxes.
