Bolton School Girls’ Division, Greater Manchester, set a Guinness World Record for the most people dressed as fictional characters! Francesca Adams, 12, chal- lenged the school to dress as Dickensian characters for his bicentenary. The 739 pu- pils beat the 644 record previously held by Chelmsford County High School, Essex.
Pupils at Oundle School, Northampton- shire, travelled back 100 years through the archives as they watched school film footage from 1912. It revealed a railway station with special school trains – Harry Potter style – and a range of blazers from yester year. Highfields School, Nottinghamshire, has appointed its first female Headteacher, Mrs Claire Fraser, since the founding Headmis- tress Miss Gwen White (1945-56).

Eight boys from Northcote Lodge, South London, won a space for their “My London” pictures in the Cancer Research UK Young Artists Exhibition at the Royal College of Art from 1st
-4th May.
Parents and pupils have been exploring iPad art at Streatham & Clapham High School, London, inspired by David Hockney’s sell-out exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, London. Froebelian School, West Yorkshire, have invested in a class set of iPad 2s for use throughout the school. Year 6 filmed and edited their own historical plays, inspiring hands-on learning in the arts and beyond.
For a Titanic themed day at Hornsby House School, South London, pupils’ attire ranged from First Class pas- sengers to maids and stok- ers. An original copy of the New York Times of 16th

1912 inspired creative writ- ing and the ship’s progress formed number problems.
