storytelling and acoustic realness combine with chants, hand claps and yee-haws, resulting in a frenzy of darn good fun. Formed in 2009, the band quickly


established itself as a strong act in the Melbourne music scene. In 2012, they launched their self-titled debut EP to a sell-out crowd at Melbourne’s Ding


new single and other album tracks played by the all-star line-up, which includes Al, Andrew Elston, Bec Allen and Simon Parker. Main support for the


tour will be Sydneysiders Palms, featuring Al Grigg and Tom Wallace, who were previously in Red Riders.


Their fi rst single The Summer is Done with Us is melodic, a bit scuzzy, and has been an omnipresent feel-good soundtrack on discerning radio stations across the summer months. Catcall and Palms will be


playing at the Northern Star on Saturday, May 19.


Dong Lounge. Stray Cat Ricochet – a cut from the EP – was picked as the title track for the 2011 St Kilda Festival radio campaign. Soon after, the song was selected to feature on satirist Chris Lilley’s hugely popular Angry Boys TV show. The EP continues to rotate on Melbourne


radio stations PBS and Triple R, while the band still generates hype with pundits everywhere singing their praises. Howlin’ Steam Train continue to


preach the good word with their live shows, which have gained a reputation for turning a quiet drink into a whiskey-fuelled night of wild escapades. Catch Howlin’ Steam Train at the
