FASHION FIXATION by KATHERINE TWEED

Dissecting the trends

spring/summer 2012. As Fashion Week drew to a close last Friday,

T

fashion lovers from all over NSW were left with inspiration for future outfi ts and hints as to what the big trends will be by the end of this year. During the week, we had the chance to see

the best, the worst and the weirdest in fashion, hair and make-up and, to be honest, these designers never cease to amaze me. When you think you know fashion, the designers pull a few strings and completely blow you away. Fashion Week, this year, had superheroes,

modern Japanese kimonos, animal prints, one- piece printed swimsuits, cloud-like hats and the craziest in hair and make-up. I am not too sure how the public will take to

the Romance Was Born comic book-themed designs or the fl amboyant tribal-themed kaftans and maxi-dresses by Camilla, but with those looks in mind, I have no doubt that it will be very interesting to see how many of the featured styles at Fashion Week will make it to the streets. Fashion Week is always an exciting time for

anyone interested in fashion, and I can’t wait until next year. Until then, I will be keeping an eye out for

trends featured in this year’s shows hitting stores for summer.

I stopped to look at the big display of the same heroes I just watched in their very own game for my console – I could get online and replay the big, end fi ght every day. I was very happy to know

that there are no real bad guys who would ever put a profi t over my family’s quality of life. I Goggled “what kills

anything to do with that stuff . If they did, Captain America and the Hulk would come and stop them.
