Cornwall’s Torchbearers Carrying the flame through the county
An average of 115 Torchbearers a day will carry the Olympic Flame during its 8,000-mile journey which starts at Land’s End on Saturday, May 19. It will arrive at the Olympic Stadium on July 27
for the lighting of the cauldron at the opening ceremony, signifying the official start of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Ninety nine Torchbearers have been confirmed as carrying the Flame through the designated areas of

Jessie (14), a Year 9 student at Callington Academy School, was nominated by her mum and dad. She has been chosen as an inspiration to other young people. Jessie was Young Volunteer of the Year with CATS (Community Action Through Sport) 2011 in the Callington and Saltash area.

She was also chosen because of her community work which includes being a match day steward for Launceston RFC, a St John Ambulance member and a Scout.

Revis (50) was nominated by Amanda Erith for her work as head coach at East Cornwall Harriers (ECH). Speaking of her delight at having been selected, Revis said: ‘I feel thrilled and honoured.’ Revis was recognised by the Olympic selection committee for her work as development officer
with ECH which includes the
organisation of the Cornish Times sponsored Primary Schools’ Cross Country League each year.
