ACHIEVEMENTS: • 1st at Canadian Nationals (Capitals); • 2nd at World Beach Women Division (Captain);

• 3rd at USA Nationals in Florida (Capitals);

• Malissa also led the tournament in assists for both World Beach and USA Nationals.

Malissa has been on the Capitals/Lotus

roster since 2007, and has won Canadian Nationals in 2009 and 2011, and finished 3rd is 2010. She has also helped the squad finish top 3 at US Nationals the last 3 years, including a second place finish in 2010. Malissa has helped with coaching clinics for the Toronto Ultimate Club, as well as captain/ coaching the Women’s Hat

league in Toronto and the Mixed Elite

league. She lead

12

her team to an undefeated season last year in the women’s hat league season, and many of her players ended up touring this year at various levels. Malissa has had a

phenomenal year both statistically and through means that statistics can’t measure. She came back from ACL Surgery (March) in 2010 to help Lotus win a bronze medal in Sherbrooke (in 2010). She then helped Capitals take silver at the US Nationals, losing a game against US power house Fury. She proceeded to put a lot of effort into off season training, both personally and with teammates, working through the winter to pursue and obtain the gold medal in Ottawa. Her leadership

and experience helped Canada win its only medal at the world beach Ultimate championships, even though some of the players on that team were introduced to each other the morning of their first game. Her 52 assists led the tournament by 11 points total, and the team was 1 point (and an arguably bad call) away from her winning a second gold medal in 3 weeks. Malissa was also at the top of the leader board at the US Nationals leading in assists, helping the team from a disappointing day 1 to finish tied for 3rd.
