The 2011 Grande Pinnacle Award Winner is:
Along with its partner team members, Scansite is proud to announce it was just awarded the
2011 Marble Institute of America’s highest honor, the Grande Pinnacle Award, for its work on the historic Santa Barbara, CA Courthouse Fountain, the Spirit of the Ocean.
Aerospace scanners were used to project a light grid on the surface to collect the 3D coordinates of the fountain.
The on-site digitizing required two late nights to gather the required data.
The prepared data was then sent to a CNC mill where a 1/1 replica was milled out out of foam for the carvers to use as a guide.
