increased in numbers with most training sessions involving around 20 -25 pupils which is really encouraging.

Tough opposition in the field Y8 / 9 Girls Futsal

A VERY PROUD Miss Bevan would like to congratulate her sport- ing futsal stars for reaching 2nd place at the Borough Futsal Tourna- ment, hosted by Villiers last Febru- ary.

Despite some team members having

never played as a team before, they beat Elthorne, Featherstone and Brentside High Schools. Players of the tournament go to Anna Dimitova who scored eight goals and Fatima Abubaker who was superb in defence along with Jasmine Allan’s safe hands in goal! Bring on the next games! Well done to team players:

Netball Year 8 girls training to win

The year 8 netball squad has been training hard this term during the members’ lunchtimes and af- ter school in preparation for their forthcoming matches.

On fine form, they are looking forward to their first games of the season in the next few weeks. A particular mention must go to Alishba Hassan, Mownikaa Uthay- achandran and Jasmina Gurung who have been integral to the team’s organisa- tion and motivation – well done girls and good luck in your upcoming games!

Teams representing Year 10 and 11 were entered into the A league category as part of the Ealing Leagues, and, despite their enjoyment in playing this popular sport, found the competition out there very tough; losing all five matches to strong opponents. However, good news is that their performances have improved during the season, with most of the players enrolling on an Eng- land Basketball Level 1 Coaches course who are showing great enthusiasm for learning coaching

skills. Phoenicians coach the coaches

Later in the season saw the formation of the junior team which won two and lost two out of four games; an excellent start for new-comers who played against tough opposition. Through practice and coaching from local basketball club the Phoenicians, all the players will learn the skills and tactics needed to take on the competition – and beat them!

This is an excellent start and with Daariq Abdi and GJ Junior taking over as coaches, they too are showing promise.

Football Year 7 Borough Football Tournament

AFTER SIX YEARS as tournament hosts, the venue has moved to Feather- stone. In freezing weather, our girls started brilliantly with a 2 - 0 win over Feath- erstone B team, goals coming from Razan Zahra and Nima Abdi Rashid.

Girls football improving

Achieving four score draws with Green- ford, Dormers Wells, Brentside and Featherstone A team, we were unfortu- nately beaten 1- 0 by Northolt and 2 -0 by Drayton Manor. Teachers from oppo- sition teams noticed and praised Najma Umar’s performance, with the teams’ overall skills noticeably improving. We finished in 4th place out of 12 compet- ing schools; frozen but happy! A great performance ladies! Joint players of the tournament go to Najma Umar and Ahareem Khalid.
