Positive Behaviour Mentor News Family Support Services
Swift intervention is key to success- ful outcomes
OCCASIONALLY there are times
when families need additional support or assistance, and at Villiers we work with a number of specialist agencies to provide you with the support that you need. We regularly sign-post students and their families to these services, as we believe that swift intervention minimises further problems that may arise as a result of delaying to take action. We have a fully trained Pastoral Support
Team with extensive experience in Special Education Needs. We also work with a Student Referral Unit, the SAFE Adolescent Services (Supportive Action for Families in Ealing), qualified clinical and educational psycholo- gists, CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), EASY (Ealing Alcohol and Substance Youth Project) and many more ser- vice providers who, like us, have your child as their priority.
Please contact your child’s Head of Learning
or Positive Behaviour Mentors for more infor- mation:

Positive Parent Support ‘I am not alone in my struggle...’ THIS was the message from one of the
parents who took part in the Strength- ening Families strengthening Commu- nities programme (SFSC) who recently graduated with a certificate for her achievement.
At Villiers we recognise that being a good
parent is incredibly important, and can pose its challenges. One of the key areas of research is surrounding how much a parent is involved in their child’s education. The more parents are involved in their child’s learning from an early age has a significant ef- fect on levels of achievement, self esteem and motivation to do well right into adulthood.

Parental behaviour and family relationships also play a key part to a child’s success at school and at Villiers we encourage involve- ment from mothers and fathers. We run a Family Links Nurturing Programme
for parents and we also host a number of parent groups in home languages, as we believe that the more parents understand the role they need to play in their child’s education, the better the
No makeup or nail varnish rule WE ARE getting an increasing number
of female students coming to the school of- fice because they are either wearing nail varnish or make up or both.
The school policy (see page 119 of
the planner, bottom paragraph) clear- ly states that students are not allowed to wear any makeup or nail varnish.
Please can I ask that you ensure that your child does not have either makeup or nail varnish on before they leave for school.

THE SANCTION for students for- getting or losing their planners is a Head of Learning detention. All students should get their planners out as soon as they enter form in the moring so that Learning Lead- ers can check they have them and are then responsible for placing students in deten- tion if they fail to have it.
They then put a note on the register for the class teachers to see through-out the day. New planners can be purchased for £5 from HOLs.
Please also note - from now on if a student
does not have their planner during morning registration they should come to the HOL of- fice to get a diary slip. The HOLs and Linda Fawkes will now be the only people distrib- uting diary slips - this way we can ensure we keep track of persistent offenders.
If students need diary slips please send them to the HOL office of the attendance officer’s office.

ALL STUDENTS in years 7 – 11 must wear school uniform which complies with the high standards that we all expect. We wish to remind parents that items deemed ‘non-uniform’ will be confiscated, labelled and returned at the end of the following week. Headphones should not be seen unless agreed by the class teacher, and hoodies, as well as boost energy drinks are forbidden. Please support us by following the uniform policy at all times. The summer uniform guidelines are up on the school’s website for reference. HOLs and SLT
outcomes will be for the parent, the child, and indeed the whole community. There will be further information in next term’s newsletter on understanding the edu- cational terms used by schools, the acronyms and how the curriculum works. Further infor- mation will also be put onto the school’s web- site in the parent information link.
If you would like to take part in the next
SFSC course which will start in September, please contact the school on:
