MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES - BRITAIN’S UNSUNG HEROES?


The ambitious aim of our Growth Champions campaign is to help our often neglected medium- sized enterprises realise their full potential. After all, they’re the ones most likely to lead the UK’s economic recovery.

These enterprises, turning over between £15m and £100m across all sectors, are the focus of the innovative Growth Champions campaign launched by Lloyds Bank in 2012 and aligned to ICAEW’s economia magazine’s Squeezed Middle initiative. Its ambitious aim is to help our MSBs realise their full potential because they’re identified as the companies most likely to lead the UK’s economic recovery.

The Confederation of British Industry’s recent Future Champions analysis shows that, while MSBs represent less than 1% of firms, they account for as much as 22% of the country’s economic revenue and 16% of total employment. These companies, the report estimates, could generate an additional £50bn for the UK economy by 2020.
