Food Morrison’s

Sadly, Morrisons doesn’t quite have the wealth of natural food that many of its competitors do. They only have 350 organic lines while the likes of Marks & Spencer have over 600. But the most inviting aspect of this retail giant’s range is that, in spite of its small size, the food they offer is very affordable. Furthermore, as their ingredients resulted in a flavoursome cake, Morrisons proves to be the ideal place for those looking to tighten their belts. You can save a lot of money at this supermarket without ever sacrificing the taste. Overall price: £9.53

Mix the butter and sugar together until it turns into a fluffy mixture. Then, in a different bowl, beat two large eggs together before adding them to the mixture one teaspoon at a time. Beat well after and add vanilla extract.

Once the eggs have been mixed, lift a sieve of flour above the bowl and add about a quarter of it into the mixture. Gently fold the flour into the mixture with milk. Repeat this process until all of the flour has been blended in.

Divide the mix equally between two 18cm sponge tins that are at least 4cm deep and have been lined with greaseproof paper. Place them on the middle shelf of the oven. Cook for 25 minutes at gas mark 3, 170C.

Once cooked, take them out of the oven and place on a wire cooling tray. Gently peel off the base papers and let the cakes cool down before sticking them together with jam and butter cream. Sprinkle icing sugar on top.OL
