movement, diet and acupuncture, as well as Chinese Herbal Medicine, all work at the etheric level, an insub- stantial level of being above or beyond common mundane consciousness. When Qi disturbances have been corrected at the etheric level, healing filters down into the spiritual, emotional and physical levels. It is preferable to start with non-invasive modalities, meditation being the first, then balanced body movement, then diet, then massage, and only then, if needed, acupuncture and herbal intervention. And, beyond corrective herbal formulas, there are certain tonic herbs which can be used as food to assist in holding dynamic balance. Like massage, acupuncture and herbs can help induce a relaxed, meditative, healthy Yin state which penetrates deeply, supporting an energetic Yang life.
