Conscious Children
Creating
through Brain-Body Connection by Amanda Hessel
K
ids today are subjected to a variety of stressors that kids in the past—like you and me—were never ex- posed too. These stresses start as early as when they are inside their mother’s womb and continue into adoles- cence. Kids are exposed to chemical, mental, emotional, physical, environmental and nutritional stressors daily. According to the most recent CDC study published in the journal Pediatrics, one in every six children is currently di- agnosed with a neuro-developmental disorder. This is a 17 percent increase in the last 12 years and includes diagno- ses such as Autism, ADHD, and developmental delays. While there are many factors that contribute to this rise in neuro-developmental disorders one thing is defi- nite, the effects of these stressors need to go somewhere in the body and they are showing up in the nervous system. The nervous system is composed of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. This system is responsible for the communica- tion between all of the parts of your body. Chronic daily stressors put the body in a state of overwhelm. When the
body is overwhelmed it cannot heal or function as it should. There will always be some stressors in life and, in fact, some stresses are even positive. However when a child is exposed to too many stressors, as in today’s culture, the body goes into overwhelm and it is unable to adapt optimally or com- municate efficiently. We all know that communication and connection is very important for any healthy relationships in life. The same is true for your relationship to your body. In order to express health fully the brain and body need to be communicating optimally. Your nervous system is also the seat of your conscious awareness. Without the nervous system there would be no ability to be conscious in the body. When the body is under stress, it goes into survival mode, and creating conscious choices and behaviors are not possible.
Your nervous system is also the seat of your conscious awareness.
When the nervous system is communicating optimally it is easier for the body to heal, to adapt to stressors more efficiently, and be present and conscious in life. A very gentle technique called Network Spinal Analysis specifical- ly fosters communication between the brain and the body through the nervous system. A thorough systematic analysis of the nervous system and the structures of the spine reveal where the body is in overwhelm and where the brain and the body are not fully communicating. The application of this healing system involves a series of gentle light touch contacts in very specific areas of the spine to help the brain connect to the body. Through connection, new pathways are formed in the nervous system and the body begins to reorganize, which allows for greater expression of health and well-being. Physical, mental, emotional and social growth are
vital for children. The body cannot be in overwhelm and be growing at the same time. Network Spinal Analysis care creates new possibilities. Deepak Chopra, M.D. stated, “Network Spinal Analysis inspires us to trust the healing power within us.”
By creating new pathways in the nervous system the
body is able to move out of overwhelm into growth. In this place children are able to be more fully present in their bod- ies and lives and express more of who they really are. a
