1 You are what you eat


It’s the number one rule in the book – to get shiny, healthy hair, you’ve got to eat nutritious food! The foun- dation of all new hair growth stems from what we put in our bellies, so avoid refined sugars and saturated fats and instead chomp on salmon (packed with omega-3 for scalp health), dark leafy green veg (helps produce sebum, your hair’s natural conditioner) and nuts (rich in selenium and great for your scalp).


2 Take a cold shower


No, we’re not kidding! The only way you’re going to achieve maximum shine on those locks of yours is by enduring a cold rinse at the end of every wash. Doing this helps close your hair’s cuticles, meaning an overall smoother effect that helps reflect the light (and leading to a shinier bonce). You’ve been told…


3 At-home hair remedies


Not all of us have the time or money to visit the salon for regular shine-inducing treatments, so with this in mind it’s time to do a little kitchen cupboard raiding! Our favourite treatment? Massage a raw egg into your scalp – making sure your hair hasn’t just been rinsed with hot water to prevent a ‘scrambled’ situation! – and rinse for oodles of shine.


4 Fight the frizz


The dreaded frizz will always be your hair’s number one enemy, reducing your once sexy look into something you’d rather throw a binbag over. Take appropriate pre- cautions – check the weather before leaving the house, making sure you have an umbrella or stylish head scarf to hand, and always keep a serum in your bag for any on-the-spot emergencies.


5 Wrap it up


Last, but by no means least, is the importance of wrap- ping your hair in a silk scarf at night. Buy yourself a silk pillow, too, and prevent your hair from ‘catching’, roughing up the cuticles and ruining that sheen once and for all. You won’t believe the difference!
