Rochelle’s got it all – successful career, killer looks and she’s even bagged JLS singer Marvin Humes! afro hair sat down with the star, 22, for a chat

Rochelle Wiseman THE SATURDAYS’

Rochelle, your hair is looking amazing! What’s the secret? “Being mixed race [Rochelle is half Norwegian, half Sierra Leonean] means I’m lucky enough not to have to relax it, as it’s curly rather than Afro. I use clip-in extensions for length and body, and I’ve just had a Brazilian Blowdry, which has made such a difference. Now my hair dries straight and doesn’t frizz at the roots, which it used to.” So where do you get it styled? “I have different people for different things, which makes me sound a right diva! For my cut, colour and blowdry I go to Daniel Galvin (www.danielgalvin.com) – his stylist Nick has been with me from the beginning. A guy called Brad from Urban Retreat at Harrods (www.urbantretreat.co.uk) comes to my house for my Brazilian Blowdry, and for my extensions I always go to Beyond Glam (www.beyondglam.com) in Finsbury Park, as they get the best hair that always matches.” What’s the worst hairstyle you’ve ever had? “Everyone loved it when I had my hair cut in a bob, but I didn’t think it suited me. I like having hair that’s long enough to play with, so I’m bitter I had it chopped off. Now I need to wear extensions while it’s growing back!” What hair products do you use? “I love the smell and the way Palmer’s Coconut Oil Conditioning Shampoo and Repairing Conditioner makes my hair feel. I also use John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Corrective Styling Mousse, either blowdrying it in to keep my style smooth or using it to defi ne my curls. I also love my ghd Gold Max Styler, as it helps me achieve a sleek look if I can’t get to the salon.” So are you high or low maintenance when it comes to grooming?

“I’m not too bad. I realised a while back that washing my hair too much was really

drying it out, so now I only do it once or twice a week. I also don’t have a lot of time for many beauty treatments – usually it’s my boyfriend [JLS singer Marvin Humes] who tells me he’s booked me a surprise facial as a treat. I’d rather spend my spare time chilling out at home, snuggled up on the sofa and watching trashy TV like Keeping Up with the Kardashians!” What’s your daily beauty regime? “I always cleanse, tone and moisturise my face twice a day using Decléor Aroma Cleanse Cleansing Milk, Tonifying Lotion and Hydra Floral Anti-Pollution Moisturising Cream. For my body I slather on Kiehl’s Creme de Corps – I use so much of it I get the biggest 500ml bottle they do! I also love Chloé Eau de Parfum. I wear it so much I can’t smell it on myself anymore, but everyone is always commenting how nice it is on me.”

So who takes longer getting ready for a night out – you or Marvin? “Me, but that’s because Marvin only has to jump in the shower and put on a different outfi t! He’s always on at me to hurry up, and has even started telling me our cab is coming half an hour earlier than it actually is! Luckily I’ve sussed what he does and ignore him!” What do you wear in the way of make-up? “I wear so much of it when I’m working

that I like to keep things really simple at home, slapping on a bit of Crème de la Mer SPF18 Fluid Tint, and not much else. When you see me in magazines when I’ve been papped it’s down to my make-up artist – I don’t look like that normally!” What about for nights out? “I use Iman Foundation in Clay, and I love their Bronzer, too. I don’t wear a lot on my eyes but I like MAC Eye Shadow in

Bronze, as well as L’Oréal Paris Volume Million Lashes.” Does it frustrate you at the lack of black cosmetics available? “Defi nitely. When I was young I didn’t have the money to go to a department store and had to settle for the high street, which is still incredibly limited. There aren’t enough cheaper brands out there that offer the right amount of shades, so I always talk about bringing out my own line – watch this space!”
