Mayor Tony Agundez as- signed a brand new, cute

looking police vehicle to pa- trol downtown San Jose, in an effort to reduce crime. Basically, the vehicle is des- tined to protect our precious tourists, and Agundez sym- bolically gave the ignition keys to Rosa Luz Treviño, the active president of the San Jose downtown mer- chants association. It looks kinda like a meter maid’s scooter, according to our boss. How would I know? I’ve never even seen a park- ing meter let alone a meter maid or a meter maid scooter.

They were here to attend the wedding of one of Selena’s friends, Shannon Larossi — a cos- tume designer Selena met on the Disney show “Wizards of Waverly Place.” Selena was one of the bridesmaids — and she sung at the nuptials. As for Justin he was just a regular guest, not a per- former.

Barcelo Hotel. It is a

little scary to think what would happen in a fire at a hotel here, when the fire de- partment is voluntary and ex- pected to cover the 250,000 people living in Los Cabos. So it’s good to know that some places, getting ready for the G20 meeting, are tak- ing security measures seri- ously, and are doing some fire drills. Hotel Barceló, already approached by Spanish G20 visitors, is one of these places. (Barcelo is Spanish owned.) 249 employees, 147 guests, 26 brigade mem- bers, six Red Cross volun- teers, the hotel executive committee and four fire fight- ers took part in the success- ful drill.
