BENEFIT HOMES PROJECT "Home for Good"

Newmark Breaks Record with Sale of Benefit Home

W

ith the sale of Newmark Homes’ 2011 GHBA Benefit Home, a new record was set for this

annual fundraiser. When the home sold, the net proceeds were a record $336,250. This breaks the 31-year record for the most net proceeds from a Benefit Home! Newmark Homes presented The 100 Club with $40,000 and the GHBA received a check for $296,250, with the majority of those funds distributed between Texas Children’s Cancer Center, the Alzheimer’s Association and HomeAid Houston. Newmark constructed its Woodhaven Plan for the Project with donated materials, labor and services by GHBA members.

“This is an incredible number when you consider the volatile economy over the past two years,” said Don Klein, chairman of the Benefit Homes Project. “When you have this many companies and individuals stepping up and giving to build a luxurious home of this caliber and price range for little or no cost, it just shows the industry’s commitment to give to those less fortunate.”

Since the Project began, nearly $6 million has been raised for charity. “The sale of the Newmark home pushes the Benefit

Homes fundraiser well over the $6 million figure,” Klein added.

The Benefit Homes are ‘Homes for Good,’ meaning they are good for the individuals who benefit from these three important charities and good for the families who purchase them. As with the Newmark home, a Benefit Home is loaded with a broad variety of upgrades and amenities not often found in other homes with similar pricing. Newmark constructed its Benefit Home in the premier community of Towne Lake. Caldwell Companies, the developer, donated the homesite.

“Newmark’s Benefit Home was finished out with $97,000 worth of upgrades at no additional cost to the buyer,” said Don Klein, chairman of the Project. “A homebuyer today would be hard-pressed to find that kind of value anywhere else, especially in such a prime community like Towne Lake. The Project’s vendors were the reason this incredible offer could be possible.”

The Newmark Benefit Home was completed with donations from a “who’s who” of Houston area vendors. “These companies and individuals were committed to making a difference in

people’s lives, both young and old,” said Toy Wood, CEO of the GHBA.

“Newmark was proud to take part in this important fundraiser for such special charities,” said Jeff Dye, vice president of Newmark Homes Houston. “Our vendors committed early on to take part by donating their materials and labor to build the Benefit Home. This generosity is a reflection of their commitment to giving back to our community. It was an honor to partner with them.”
