The first SBID International Design Awards will take place in Paris this month, highlighting some of the very best in global design
THE
Society of British Interior design (SBID) is the official British
partner of the internationally recognised Maison & Objet exhibition. A central part of the Society’s involvement will be the inauguration of the SBID International Design Awards ceremony which will be unveiled in Paris on the 11 September, giving designers worldwide the opportunity to receive the recognition they deserve for their designs.
The competition is open to all design
professionals, both SBID and non-SBID members, and will measure six categories of interior design excellence: Best Architect; Best Commercial Design; Best Sustainability Interior Design; Best Interior Design (including product design); Best Luxury Small Space (including cars, boats and planes), and Overall Winner. Robin Gibb CBE, singer and songwriting legend of the Bee Gees and SBID’s Ambassador for Intellectual Property protection, will lead the judging panel and present the winners with their awards at the ceremony.
He said: “For many years I’ve campaigned to great success around the world with the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC). I am proud to be SBID Ambassador and will work to defend the great designers this country continues to produce. “The principal of owning what you create
is not arguable in my opinion and as each year passes the challenges do not diminish however the creative landscape changes. “We at SBID are ready to face that challenge. I look forward to my role as judge at Maison & Objet and representing SBID in Paris.”
