Team work is also very inspiring. Since we have many clients from different fields, there are many sides to our day-to-day creative work. We are constantly exchanging information and developing new ideas. It is also our habit as designers to
constantly question things and to have a multi-disciplinary approach.

people see things differently for once – and also to use the products differently. On the other hand, we know that people are rather sceptical about products that seem too alien to them. Therefore, we always try to give time and attention to these two human impulses. Regarding our creative process, this means finding the well-known in the unusual form and the unusual in the well- known form.
DESIGNER: WHAT BENEFITS DOES YOUR MULTI-DISCIPLINARY APPROACH BRING AND HOW DO THEY ENHANCE THE CREATIVE PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTS THAT YOU DESIGN? HAUG: With our team of 30 people and our multi-disciplinary approach we are able to develop very complex projects and offer our clients coherent, holistic solutions – right to the high-quality 1:1 model. The exchange between the areas of
product design, user interface design and corporate design is especially fascinating. We see these disciplines growing closer and

ANDREAS HAUG Andreas Haug, born in 1946, lives and works in Stuttgart. His career is very closely linked to the rise of modern German design. After studying at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design, he became the first employee of Hartmut Esslinger at Esslinger-Design in 1972. From 1975 to 1982, Andreas Haug was Managing Partner at Esslinger-Design before joining frogdesign where he was Managing Partner from 1982 and then Design-Consultant and Vice-President Design there from 1984-87.
In 1987, Haug founded Phoenix Design in Stuttgart together with Tom Schönherr, opening their Tokyo studio two years later.

Since the company’s foundation, Phoenix Design has won more than 400 design awards, among them numerous honours in Germany. In 1998, Andreas Haug and Tom Schönherr jointly received the Lucky Strike Designer Award.
