Facts: On August 18, 1997, Plaintiff, Katie Metheny, age 16, was a passenger in a vehicle operated by Defendant, Craig Wentz, when he lost control, ran off the road and struck a tree.␣ Ms. Metheny was flown to University of Maryland, Shock Trauma Center were she was hospitalized in a coma from 8/18/97-9/9/97.␣ She was then transferred to Sinai Re- habilitation Hospital through 11/19/97.␣ Thereafter she was discharged but underwent extensive rehabilitation and treat- ment through Kennedy Krieger Institute and other providers.␣ Ms. Metheny’s medical expenses totaled approximately $260,000.00.


Allegations of Liability: Defendant failed to maintain con- trol of his vehicle and struck a tree.


Injuries/Damages: Plaintiff sustained a traumatic brain in- jury and numerous physical injuries.

Facts: Plaintiff proceeding straight on Rutland Road when underinsured driver crossed center line.␣ Underinsured car- rier (GEICO) paid $100,000 and case proceeded against USAA, Plaintiff ’s carrier, underinsurance portion of policy.


Injuries/Damages: Cervical Diskectomy and fusion with right vocal cord complication. Cervical problems completely resolved.
