Children suffer 50,000 bicycle-related brain in- juries in the U.S. each year, and more than 400 of them die as a result. Wearing a helmet is the single most important thing you can do to prevent a serious head injury in a bike crash.␣ ␣ And, it does not even take a “crash.”␣ A simple FALL off the bike - and we have all fallen off a bike, or with a bike, at some time or other - can end with a life- altering injury.
During National SAFE KIDS Week, The Balti- more Safe Kids Coalition and the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association presented bicycle safety hel- mets to school children in the Baltimore area. Through the support and contributions of MTLA members, the Association raised over $8,000 to purchase more than 900 bicycle safety helmets for local school children.
