DEADGOOD DESIGN

Parq Life is the aptly named new furniture collection by British designer Lee Broom for innovative young design brand deadgood. Launched during Clerkenwell Design Week in May, the collection comprises a sideboard, coffee table, lamp and side table and showcases the best of British manufacturing whilst interpreting handcrafted techniques in new and innovative ways. Broom took his inspiration from the traditional herringbone pattern of parquetry fl ooring and created a contemporary new furniture collection using a sleek, satin-fi nished walnut veneer with complementing brass accents so that each piece appears to be made from solid wood.

REACH FOR THE STARS

Austrian design studio Pudelskern has designed an innovative new take on the traditional concept of the wardrobe. Inspired by nature and the microscopic view of the seed of a fl ower called Ornithogalum dubium, Milky Star is a ceramic wall hanger made up of star-like pads reminiscent of a lunar landscape. The design has been licensed to Poli Keramik, a manufacturer of handmade stove tiles. The individual modules that make up the hanger can be confi gured according

to the user’s own personal tastes making the wardrobe a highly bespoke arrangement.

WOOD YOU BELIEVE IT?

Natural wood is not the ideal material to use in areas of high moisture and humidity such as bathrooms. Ceramic on the other hand is perfectly suited to such applications. The new range of Aliso tiles distributed in the UK by Compton Group provides the aesthetic and functional benefi ts of these two very different materials. Suitable for use as both wall or fl oor tiles, the Aliso range of

ceramic tiles have the appearance of natural oak or walnut whilst retaining the durability and hardwearing qualities of a ceramic tile. The tiles are particularly well-suited to use in bathrooms and wetrooms as the textured surface aids water displacement and improves slip resistance.
