the tunes have been sourced from all corners including Ireland, Brittany, Cape Breton, old Scottish collections and a healthy smattering of our own compositions. In terms of songs there’s a quite impressive variety also ranging from a couple of Gaelic songs to a folk reworking of an soul classic made popular by Otis Redding and the Rolling Stones, That’s How Strong My Love Is. Something for everyone and everything for someone!
Looking ahead, we’re due to be promoting the album with concerts & tours over the summer and autumn in Belgium, The Netherlands, Northern Ireland, USA and of course in Scotland (full details of all gigs can be found on our website www.
battlefieldband.co.uk). Particular highlights include the Philadelphia Folk Festival and our very own Music Tryst Festival (www.
musictryst.com) which we will be hosting in the Scottish National Mining Museum in Newtongrange on the 5th-7th August. This promises to be another wonderful weekend (we hosted the first one last year) full of workshops and concerts for all ages and interests. Again, full details can be found on the website and if the levels of craic, ploy and nonsense are anything like last year’s then it’s sure to be a cracker!
So, lots to look forward to for the Batties and its personally been an honour to have the
WWW.BATTLEFIELDBAND.CO.UK
opportunity to help create my own small piece of Battlefield Band history in the shape of the new album, Line-up, to be released on 18th July. We really hope that long-time fans of the band will love this album as another step in the Batties story and for new listeners, we hope they enjoy a cracking album that we’ve had a blast making.
Either way, here’s to another 40 years of taking Scotland’s music to the world!
