Since being dropped by Blue Note I have decided to re- record my catalogue as I did not own the masters to the eight albums I had written. I don’t actually own any of them, I own the songs but I don’t own the actual recordings.

So I have been re-recording a lot of my older material and have been releasing it on my own record label called ‘Amanuensis Productions’ Volumes 1 & 2 of the ‘Close Up’ series have already been released and are selling really well. Volume 3 is to be released this month and will be available from my website. The final volume will be available early 2012. People who like Acoustic / Folk music will really like the collection as they are not

just re-recordings of

old songs but more a re- invention of them.

My journey in the music industry to date has been a very interesting one. When I first started out I was told that I would never be successful and that I would never make it as a singer, so I went from that and people saying “No, no thank you, go away!” to having a huge amount of success and then to over the years having less and less of an audience and more

and more freedom, which has been great because what I am doing now is what I imagined I would be doing when I was a teenager.

I love playing with a full band especially when playing to a large audience, its just the sheer power of it all that really makes it something else. Also when I’m opening for others like when I opened for Sting. Yet there is a lot to be said for playing as a duo, there’s a lot of freedom, a lot of dynamics and Gerry Lenard is not just another guitar player, he’s really inventive and creative.

I have often had my music categorised by critics and the press as Folk Music and although my music is rooted in Folk Music, it’s not really folk in the traditional sense of the word, however I do love playing the folk festivals and am always well received. Quite a few of my songs aren’t really Folk, they are instead a mixture of alternative music with an element of Folk.

I have just played numerous festivals here in the UK including the home Festival in Dartington and Glastonbury which was great! I will then move on to doing a load of dates in Europe including opening for Bob Dylan Norway.
