Barnes Extends Rolfing Benefits to Children L

aura Barnes, a certified advanced Rolfer and member of the Rolf Institute, is offering free initial Rolfing sessions to youngsters through August at her office in Naples, in addition to the free initial consultation and sample sessions she offers year-round for people of all ages. Barnes says that Rolfing therapy, designed to release restrictions, improve posture and ease pain through the manipulation of the body’s myofascial system, can benefit children, as well as adults.

“Clients of all ages have reported some degree of pain relief and improved range of motion in their first session,” she says, adding that her personal and professional experience with scoliosis allows her to give young clients with similar challenges some relief from discomfort and information about other available resources.

According to Barnes, Rolfing is a suitable treatment for other conditions, including sciatica; back, neck, and shoulder pain; stress and tension; headaches; carpal tunnel syndrome; and temporomandibular joint disorder.
