A letter from Sister Kathleen

Dear friends,

Spring is a new beginning, and during the past several months we have witnessed the amazing progress being made on the construction of our replacement patient tower, The West Pavilion. It is a true testament of all of those who have supported our ministry along this 81-year-long journey. I use the term “we” because without your generous support, this tremendous endeavor would not have been made possible. These certainly are exciting times, with so much more ahead of us, as you will read in the following pages.

“There is no greater power in life than love.” Venerable Mary Potter

Last September, we welcomed Bishop Gustavo Garcia-siller M.Sp.S, and hundreds of supporters to celebrate the start of our Campus Transformation Project. This is the boldest construction project since our Sisters opened the original hospital in the midst of the Great Depression. It will create the Southwest Chicago area’s first all private-room, private-bath acute care hospital. We are empowered to carry on the mission of our pioneering Sisters into the future.

On February 28, 2011, we welcomed Mr. Brian Lepacek to our Little Company of Mary family. Brian is the new Executive Director of the Hospital Foundation, replacing Mary Jo May, who retired after nearly 20 years of dedication and commitment to our ministry. We wish Mary Jo, and her husband Ray, God’s blessings during the coming years as they take time to enjoy their beautiful grandchildren.

We are energized about our future and grateful for the support of so many who continue to join us in our health care ministry. We have been successful because of your support, and we sincerely thank you. We are reminded that the service we provide every day for our patients, their families and our community is our legacy and the expression of our mission. On behalf of all our Sisters and the entire Little Company of Mary family, may God continue to bestow his choicest blessings on you and your families.

Sister Kathleen McIntyre, L.C.M. Chairperson, Board of Directors
