Throughout the Year, For a Cause

Supporters of Little Company of Mary Hospital Foundation gathered throughout at the year at various locations and settings—all with the goal of raising funds for the hospital's Campus Transformation Project.

Shopping With Purpose Remembering Maureen Mulryan

Beverly resident Maureen Mulryan was a longtime Beverly Breast Cancer Walk committee member and a tireless advocate for breast cancer care and research. Maureen succumbed to the disease on September 4, 2010, at age 59. A graduate of the Little Company of Mary Nursing School, Maureen took up the breast cancer cause long before her own 2005 diagnosis, dedicating herself to raising funds and awareness. In 2007, she and the other Walk committee members were honored at the Little Company of Mary Hospital Crystal Heart Ball and served together as grand marshal of the South Side Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Maureen was too weak to complete the 2010 Walk, but she was outside her home, greeting walkers–many of them with a hug–and cheering them along. A team dedicated in her honor raised more than $16,000. “She still had such guts and such fight in her,” Walk co-founder Nancy Mulcahy recalls. “Until the end, she was full of laughs and spirit. She went out the grand lady that she was.”

On April 7, 2011, more than 700 supporters met at Beverly Country Club for the fifth annual In Good Company shopping event, sponsored by the Little Company of Mary Hospital Auxiliary. Attendees enjoyed drinks and appetizers and shopped the wares of more than 60 vendors at the popular event.

The 2010 In Good Company event, which had a French Market theme, took place on April 22, 2010. More than 800 people attended, browsing French-themed goods from more than 40 vendors and raising $53,000 for the Family Birth Center.

Golfing For Good

The 11th annual Little Company of Mary Hospital golf outing took place on September 10, 2010, at Green Garden Country Club. More than 150 golfers participated, enjoying good weather and company–if not always good luck. The event raised nearly $70,000 for the Campus Transformation Project. Awards were presented to the winning foursome and individual golfers, including:
