2010 Crystal Heart Ball
The 2011 event followed on the heels of the highly successful 2010 Crystal Heart Ball, which raised $483,000 for the Campus Transformation Project. At the 2010 gala, the Venerable Mary Potter Humanitarian Award was presented to Christopher G. Kennedy, president of Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc., for his devotion to humanitarian causes. Kennedy accepted the award as a tribute to the Kennedy family, telling presenters: “On behalf of the Kennedy family, I thank you for this honor and for your faith in all of us.”
The 2010 Sister Nancy Boyle Award for Excellence went to Little Company of Mary's Hospice Program for their dedication to providing compassionate care to patients and their families. The Hospice Program dates to 1976 and was the first of its kind in Southwest Chicagoland. Today, the Hospice Program continues its mission by providing holistic, end-of-life care that meets patients' physical, spiritual and emotional needs.
Raffles prizes were also awarded, including a number of prizes to the hospital’s own. The grand prize of $15,000 went to Little Company of Mary Family Birth Center nurse Eileen Murphy, while Family Birth Center Unit Secretary Mary Prendergast won a pair of diamond earrings.
