A touring experimental restaurant will be bringing its architectural and culinary delights to a number of European cities over the coming months

FORGET

TV dinners – visitors to this

rooftop restaurant will be able to enjoy some truly mesmerising viewing during their meals. The Cube by Electrolux is a touring,

temporary gastronomic experience that will appear in landmark locations across Europe in 2011, offering food from some of the world’s best chefs together with some amazing views. The Cube offers guests an insight into the world of professional chefs. The idea is that diners will not only leave with the memory of a wonderful meal but practical hints and tips that they can use back home in their own kitchens. The project starts with a placement on

top of the Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, Belgium. The aim is to create an experience that surprises and inspires guests with fantastic tastes and never-before-seen views, ultimately stimulating them to explore their own creative boundaries next time they entertain friends or family at home.

Two Electrolux Cubes will travel across

Europe offering a memorable dining experience for 18 guests per setting in magnificent locations. The transparent and semi-transparent structures will be seen on top of monuments, buildings and even water platforms in Belgium, Italy, Russia, Switzerland and Sweden but only for three months at each location. “The Cube by Electrolux will offer guests wonderful, exclusive cooking and food experiences,” says Neil Gannon, Director of Marketing Expertise at Electrolux. “Whilst guests enjoy the evening, we also want to give them the opportunity to interact and learn from the professionals we work with being the trusted supplier of many top-chefs and fashion specialists. “Showing their professional shortcuts

we want to show people it doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive to create great experiences as long as you have the right tools.” The Cube by Electrolux will feature a different hand-picked resident chef at each

venue and will offer tailor-made recipes using locally sourced ingredients. When guests first arrive, the 140 sq m space will be open for entertaining and some real vantage point sightseeing, especially from the external platform. When dinner is served, the concealed dining table will drop from the ceiling so as to sit the 18 guests before being raised again for after dinner drinks and mingling. The kitchen will be on display within

the centre of each Electrolux Cube with chefs working on show to share their skills. The chef will form an integral part of the event and provide an atmosphere more akin to cooking with friends than attending a traditional restaurant. The Cube will be in Brussels until July

before embarking on the next leg of its tour. designer
